Perry County Corvette Club History:
Corvette enthusiasts from Perry County and the surrounding area began monthly meetings and officially formed the Perry County Corvette Club in 1977. We were incorporated in the state of Pennsylvania on September 30, 1978 and joined the National Council of Corvette Clubs as a member club of the East Region in 1979. We wrote a constitution and bylaws in March of 1982. The club was started with 26 members and we still have 7 of them as charter members and a total membership of 42 people as of today. Sheaffer-Weary Chevrolet in Loysville, PA sponsored our club during the early years until Regester Chevrolet in Thompsontown, PA became our sponsor on July 1, 1983 and has remained our sponsor ever since.
We enjoy our Corvettes in a variety of ways-competition events, parades, and cruises.
As far as competition is concerned, we won the NCCC East Region club championship in 1980 with a very small club and the East Region club with the most number of points per member award in 2015 and 2016. Our club was featured in an article in Blue Bars, the official publication of the National Council of Corvette Clubs in the Summer 2014 issue, and one of our members cars was the back cover of the May/June issue in 1980. Members of our club have served as Regional Executive, Regional Membership Director, and Regional Competition Director of the East Region. Members of PCCC have also competed in and won the East Region individual points championships or placed high in overall as well as concourse, rallye, and autocross events. We have also had members win or place high in the competitive events at the NCCC National Convention.
We also enjoy providing our Corvettes for Memorial Day and Veterans Day parades, and have also participated in school Homecoming events as well as other area parades. One of the highlights of the early years was parading the West Perry High School state championship baseball team around the western half of Perry County. Some of the best times are when we just go for a cruise in our Vettes which we try to schedule as club events several times a year. Club members enjoy the sheer pleasure of driving their Vette and the sight of many Corvettes together on the open road. An annual club picnic that is very well attended is one of the highlights of the year as well as a dinner early in the year where we give out our club awards for the previous year.
